My name is Darlene and I am the owner of Yolanda’s Homemade Cheesecakes.  I have been baking as long as I can remember.  It all started at home with 6 other siblings, all with daily chores to complete at home.  Pay was a home to live in and food on the table daily.  My Mother was a Southern cook, Hair beautician and former Pre-school teacher.  My Dad was a professional chef for about 60 years, the head chef at the church and a Sunday School Superintendent. In our family they found I had a talent in baking. That was probably about one of the only things I did well in the kitchen besides cleaning it.  Sometimes skills are created by repetition (Doing the same thing over and over again and getting really good at it).

Currently, I work in IT support for a large, international IT support company.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering.  I am also  the very proud mother of 3 girls, 3 boys, 2 daughters-in-law and a son-in-law.  I am the grandmother of 4 adorable granddaughter’s (Kayla, Lauren, Alana and Lucia) and  2 handsome grandson’s (Isaiah and Noah).

I was blessed with a husband of soon to be 34 years of marriage and  the most amazing offspring’s (another story…).

I have been baking for several years and not really making any profit.  Another passion I have is to mentor youth in the community.  I used my talent for years to generate revenue for youth to assist in paying for trips, private instrument lessons, creating yearbooks, to generate revenue for a computer club I facilitated, uniforms for performances, etc.

Now, I have created a store, and I’m the Webmaster of this site. My deserts are loved by many and I would like to share them with you.
